Archdevils

Archdevils occupy positions of extraordinary authority within the Infernal Orders. They may command Devils, hold vast numbers of claimed souls, rule portions of a Dominion of Claim, negotiate bargains capable of reshaping mortal kingdoms, invest lesser beings with infernal power, or serve directly beneath evil Gods whose purposes extend across both mortal and spiritual existence.

None of this makes an Archdevil a God. Like Archangels, Archdevils are defined by the nature of the power they carry and the relationships through which that power is sustained. Their authority may be enormous, but it remains infernal rather than independently divine.

One of the clearest paths to Archdevilhood begins with an extraordinarily deep mortal allegiance. A Champion of an evil God may already possess the degree of spiritual synchronization necessary for radical transformation after death. If that deity chooses to preserve and invest the soul rather than merely claim it, the mortal Champion may enter the Spiritual World not as ordinary property but as one of the patron's greatest servants.

Other Archdevils may have followed much longer infernal paths. What matters is not a single required biography but the resulting condition: an Archdevil possesses enough accumulated and invested infernal authority to stand above ordinary Devils while remaining part of the same broad order. Their relationships with souls are often similarly hierarchical. An Archdevil may protect what it owns because possession without preservation is wasteful. It may reward competent servants, elevate favored souls, honor carefully written agreements, or defend a Dominion against Demon predation.

None of those behaviors erase the central structure beneath them. The Archdevil's world is one in which power creates terms, terms create obligation, and obligation becomes something reality itself can enforce.
