Lupine Branch

The Lupine Branch is the wolf-derived division of the Canid Kindred. It describes inherited Beastfolk architecture, not transformation, curse, or temporary shape.

Wolf-derived magical beasts can cross the Awakening threshold and become Wildfolk whose sapient form belongs within this Branch. Such an individual does not automatically establish a Lineage. Cardorbian taxonomy recognizes a Lineage only when sapience and a characteristic inherited architecture reproduce reliably through a stable population.

No Known Stable Lineage

No stable hereditary Lupine Lineage is presently known. An awakened wolf may therefore be classified as a Lupine Wildfolk without being assigned a Lineage name.

This distinction also separates ancestry from magical condition. Ordinary wolves are animals. Magically altered wolves remain altered animals unless they Awaken. Lycanthropy is a transformational magical condition and does not make its bearer Lupine Beastfolk. A future Lupine Beastfolk person could themselves acquire lycanthropy without that condition becoming part of their ancestry.

The absence of a known Lineage is not a claim that one can never arise. It records the limits of present knowledge.
