The Material World
The Material World is Cardorbis as its inhabitants know it through land, body, craft, history, and everyday life. Here lie its peoples, nations, wildernesses, creatures, cultures, resources, conflicts, discoveries, and works.
From continents and kingdoms to a medicinal herb or the metal within a particular blade, everything physically rooted in Cardorbis can ultimately find a place within this branch of the Archives.
The Material World is the realm of lived existence: mountains and rivers, cities and roads, forests and cultivated fields, mortal bodies and fashioned objects. It contains the peoples who have built civilizations upon Cardorbis, the creatures with whom they share it, the cultures they have inherited and changed, and the landscapes that shaped them long before any written history remembered their names. Great kingdoms belong here, but so too do an isolated village, an unfamiliar animal, a useful herb, or the stone beneath an ancient road.
Its history is not a single story descending from one people or nation. Lands exist beside other lands, cultures beside other cultures, and peoples beside other peoples, each connected without requiring one to serve as the measure of all the others. As the Archives grow, the Material World may descend from continents to kingdoms, from peoples to communities, from crafts to individual materials, and eventually even to particular weapons, plants, substances, or objects whose histories have become worth remembering.
