Who is This Card?
A Nightwalker is a young adult whose first Crossing carries them onto a road where the way forward cannot always be seen clearly. The young woman shown here learns to move without demanding that the darkness reveal everything at once. Small lights, subtle markers, changes in terrain, and the memory of the road behind her become enough to make the next careful choice.
A Nightwalker develops patience with partial information. They learn the difference between being lost and merely being unable to see very far ahead, and between concealment that protects something vulnerable and secrecy that exists only to hide control. Their path does not teach blind trust in darkness. It teaches that something need not be completely visible before it can be approached thoughtfully.
Nightwalkers can come from anywhere in Merathen, but Tectara has cultivated some of the most sophisticated traditions built around hidden roads, guarded knowledge, and unobtrusive guidance. Tarsavel, the House of Echoes, and the protected routes linking communities without exposing everything they guard offer mature expressions of skills a Nightwalker first begins to discover during the Crossing. Other Nightwalkers may put those same qualities to work far from Tectara and in entirely different ways.
Nightwalker is an Exemplar of quiet guidance and trust in what is not immediately visible. The title belongs to those learning how to move responsibly when certainty is unavailable. The whole road does not need to appear before the next step can be chosen.

Not every good thing needs to announce itself. Some of the help that changes our lives arrives quietly: a person who makes something easier without taking credit, a warning given before trouble begins, a kindness no one else witnesses, or someone who simply remains dependable when attention has moved elsewhere.
Recognition can matter, and invisible work should not be taken for granted. But the worth of an act does not begin only when someone notices it.

Recognition can be welcome without becoming the reason the light was carried. Her goodness remains meaningful even when no one is there to praise it.

No further Ascension is currently traced from Nightwalker. Her path is complete without requiring another title beyond the quiet responsibility she has already learned to carry.
That path opens toward Veiled Paths, where hidden roads, discretion, protected knowledge, subtle intervention, and responsibility for unseen actions become larger questions. Nightwalker does not secretly become one of the titles found there. Her road instead reaches a Court where quiet guidance can take many different forms.
